We will not sell or deliver alcohol to anyone who is under the age of 18. By placing an order for delivery by our registration form or via our website you are confirming that you are at least 18 years of age. An account must be created to order from our website. It is important that you do not share your account details with others.
We reserve the right not to accept any order and in which case will not have any further obligation to you.
Our minimum purchase online is currently 6 bottles of any mix, and in multiples of 6 thereafter. The ‘Best Cuts’ Premium and Value Wine Club Box will always be an order of 12.
The placing of an order anywhere on our website does not constitute a contract, which is made only when we accept your order and process payment for the stated amount. We will confirm your order by email when it is submitted to us and payment has been taken.
We do occasionally have to substitute a bottle for a later vintage or offer an alternative of equal or greater value. We will contact you to let you know if this is the case and either make the substitution or cancel / refund the order according to what is agreed.
All orders will be subject to our Terms of Sale. You may request a copy of these terms by writing to Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar, High Street, Cookham, Berkshire SL6 9SQ or calling 01628 819027. These terms limit and in some cases exclude altogether, our liability to you.
We will not have any responsibility or liability for the non-delivery of any products unless either:
a) all of the products charged for are not delivered, and b) you give us full details of any shortages within 14 days by emailing email@example.com.
Our total liability to you for the non-delivery of any products is limited to delivering the products to you within 10 days of your telling us about the non-delivery or, at our option, crediting your account with the value of the products not delivered (plus delivery charge if applicable).
We will not have any responsibility or liability in connection with any defects of the products unless you give us full details within fourteen days of when the defect ought to have been apparent to you.
All orders placed through our website (www.oldbutcherswinecellar.co.uk) will be processed at Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar, High Street, Cookham, Berkshire, SL6 9SQ.
Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar accepts no liability arising from errors (including typographical errors) contained in, or any omissions from, this website.
You should inspect all goods at the time of collection or delivery and notify us within fourteen days of any missing or faulty items. After fourteen days you will be deemed to have accepted the goods and no returns will be accepted thereafter under these criteria.
Please call us for any specific information regarding Allergens in our wines. Unless stated ALL WINES STOCKED CONTAIN SULPHITES.
All prices are inclusive of Value added tax (VAT).
Promotional offers and prices are as stated, with no further discounts available.
Although we endeavor to ensure that all pricing information on the website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and goods may be mis-priced. If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion either contact you and ask you whether you wish to cancel your order; continue with the order at the correct price, or we will notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply goods at the incorrect price.
We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers, goods and specification of goods at our discretion at any time before (but not after) we accept your order. Where an end date is specified on any offer on the website, it is intended as a guide only. We reserve the right to change prices at any time.
Credit and Debit Cards
When you enter your credit or debit card details you are confirming that you are either the card holder or have the card holder’s permission to use the card to order from us.
All card payment details will be processed securely via Sagepay and we accept payment from all major cards, Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Maestro, and Debit cards.
We also accept payment via Paypal.
Goods will be dispatched once cleared funds are received for each agreed delivery.
'Best Cuts' Premium and Value Wine Box from our Wine Club
At the time you join the Wine Club you specify whether you would like a delivery once a month, every 2 months or every 3 months. First payment will be taken through the Go Cardless direct debit on the same date you sign up and on the same date each relevant month after that. Deliveries are always made during the first week of a month and the first delivery will be made with the following month’s scheduled ‘Premium’/’Value’ deliveries after instructions are taken. ie if you sign up at the beginning of a month payment will be taken but your first box will be delivered with the following month's deliveries.
If you would like to opt out of a specific recurring delivery you are due or change your preferred selection, please give us 30 days written notice and remember to adjust your secure Go Cardless (recurring payment direct debit) account accordingly.
Delivery is by ourselves locally or our usual couriers who will require a signature for the delivery, the signatory must be 18 years or older. If you are local to the shop you can opt for Click and Collect at checkout to pick up your order from our premises on Cookham High Street.
A delivery charge of £9.99 will be made for orders of 6 bottles to UK mainland addresses, orders of 12 or more bottles will be £6.90 to the same addresses. Please see a list of the most frequently occurring postcodes we have to make a separate charge for in either case*.
We can only leave the delivery unsigned for, for example in a shed or garage, if specific instructions are given at the time of ordering. Our liability in this case ends at the point of agreed delivery, we cannot be held responsible for ‘unattended’ wine going missing after delivery.
An order may also be collected from the shop if this is specified at the time of ordering in the special delivery instructions section at checkout. Please call ahead to confirm the shop’s opening hours on 01628 819027 and to ensure the box has been brought through to the shop ready for collection.
If the courier attempts delivery and leaves a card to arrange redelivery or collection from a depot and the goods are not collected within the specified time and are returned to Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar, a redelivery fee will be charged.
We shall not be liable for any delay in delivering your wine if that delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our control such as, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or govern mental order, rule, regulation or direction, fire, flood, storm or Act of God, failure of ISP or telecommunications provider in connection with the performance of this Agreement.
We are only able to deliver at our fixed rates to central UK mainland postcodes. We are unable to ship overseas due to the high level of potential breakages and prohibitive transport and insurance costs. We are unable to deliver to Northern Ireland.
Returns, cancellations and refunds
We will provide a full refund or replacement for any wines that are faulty or for any product that is received broken. This does not affect your statutory rights. We may require faulty or broken bottles to be returned to us for inspection. Reasonable costs incurred will be credited. .
Please note, breakages must be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery.
Should you wish to return a product for any of these reasons, first email us within 14 days of receipt of your order to discuss the issue and make the necessary arrangements. The sooner you let us know, the quicker we can resolve any issue.
Your order will be delivered to you unless written cancellation has been received by Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar, before the order is dispatched. To cancel your order, please do so in writing by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org, you have up to 14 days following delivery to cancel your order in which case all charges will be refunded to your card within 30 days of the goods returning to us in a merchantable condition and in the original box and packaging that you received the goods.
Cost of returns
The full cost of returning the goods will be borne by the client in the case of cancellation of an order. Our delivery cost to you is subsidized by ourselves and in order to keep our prices competitive this cannot beborne for any items returning other than those which are faulty.
All returns, either due to breakage or cancellation of an order, shall be arranged by a carrier of Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar’s choice and will usually be the same carrier as that which made the original delivery. We will be most happy to let you know the cost from our carrier before you return the goods to us.
We will charge you the direct costs of recovery if you do not comply or if you return them at our expense. Please return all goods to our trading address shown below.

In the event of a complaint please contact Old Butcher’s Wine Cellar by email email@example.com giving as much detail as possible. All complaints will be acknowledged within 48 hours of receipt and a full resolution of your complaint offered within a further 72 hours. You will be kept informed if there is any delay beyond this. Each complaint will be treated as confidential and will be attended to by a senior manager or director.

Reviews and Testimonials
We really appreciate and encourage reviews for wines you have bought with us and tried, please note your ‘chosen’ name / pseudonym will be displayed when you leave a review.
We reserve the right not to publish any particular review of a wine or testimonial if it contains abusive, obscene, defamatory, ageist, racist or sexist language or may cause offense to other users and to monitor comments to ensure this is not the case.
Inclusion of 'Spam' links will mean a review is not published.
Goods purchased with vouchers are subject to our usual delivery policy.
Data Protection, Privacy and Cookies
All data is collected lawfully and maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. All data held will not be passed on to any third party except for delivery purposes.
In compliance with EU Anti Spam legislation, you may opt out of any marketing emails we choose to send promoting special offers, tastings etc. This can be done either on our Account registration page or if applicable our ‘Best Cuts’/’Good Value’ box registration page.
Cookies: These are snippets of information stored on your hard drive that allow our website to recognize your computer on subsequent visits and will keep a track of your interests, purchases or even pages browsed on our site. The information held is where available your IP address, operating system and browser type.
